If you are one of those who have trouble eating vegetables, today we bring a recipe of gratin cauliflower with parmesan and béchamel.

Gratin cauliflower is a perfect way to make children eat this vegetable. It is delicious thanks to the soft béchamel with cheese, and its crunchy texture makes it really appealing, so, do not think about it just for a dinner or accompanying main food.

Cauliflower is a highly recommended vegetable; its high-fiber and its low caloric and fat intake make this food a great ally for the health. It is a source of fiber, zinc, selenium, magnesium, potassium, iron and vitamins A, C y K. It is important its folates content. Folates strengthen immune system. The best way to prepare the cauliflower is to steam because the cooking in water supposes the loss of vitamins and minerals. It is prepared with béchamel and cheese, those foods add fat to the recipe, this should be considered. It is important the content of iron, calcium, potassium, magnesium, sodium, phosphorus and vitamins B7, B9, D and K. It is a caloric recipe and it is also a bit fat, so its intake should be moderated.


The first step is to prepare the cauliflower. Remove the leaves and the stem and let loose in bouquets.

Put a casserole with plenty of water to boil and, once the boiling point is reached, cook it for 10-15 minutes over medium heat. Depending on the size of the cauliflower will take more or less, so we recommend checking with a knife the term of cooking. Add a dash of oil and a pinch of salt to enhance the flavor.

While the cauliflower is cooked, take the opportunity to make the béchamel. Put to warm the olive oil Betis in a frying pan, when it is hot, sauté the flour moving it with the help of rods constantly, add the milk little by little and cook without stirring between 6 and 8 minutes. When thick, add the nutmeg, salt and pepper.

Preheat the oven at 200ºC.

Drain the cauliflower when ready and place it on a tray or source suitable for oven. Pour the béchamel sauce over it and sprinkle Parmesan cheese to taste. Bake in the grill position at 200ºC until the surface of the cauliflower with béchamel and cheese is grated. Depending on the power of your oven can take from 5 to 10 minutes.

It can be decorated with sprig of parsley.
