Andalusia, in its Energy Strategy for Andalusia 2020 continues to advance towards a low-carbon, sufficient, intelligent and quality model, in line with European guidelines, assumes the commitment to place the reduction of demand and use of renewable energy beyond the objectives of the European Union established for that year.
The energy policy developed from Andalusia bases its action on promoting the use of the wide availability of renewable energy resources available in the region, reducing the energy demand of households and productive sectors in order to contribute to improving the competitiveness of the economy and Andalusian families, as well as establishing a balanced development of energy infrastructure.
The Strategy stems from the joint work of the Andalusian administration, the various social agents and citizens. With this common commitment, five objectives are set to be achieved in Andalusia by 2020: to reduce the trend consumption of primary energy by 25%, to contribute 25% of the gross final consumption of energy with renewable energies, to self-consume 5% of the electrical energy generated with renewable sources, to decarbonize energy consumption by 30% with respect to the value of 2007 and to improve the quality of the energy supply by 15%.
Protecting the environment is essential to leave a better world to future generations and Torres y Ribelles wants to participate in this beautiful challenge. To this end, these are some of the projects we have launched this year:
Installation of photovoltaic panels that allow a monthly consumption saving of 25%.
As an example of the environmental benefits that are being obtained, in a period of 4 months we have managed to produce a total of 68,513.50 kWh generated by our new solar plant. With this we have managed not to emit 44,299.78 kgs of CO2. This corresponds roughly to the consumption of 40 barrels of oil and the salvation of 295 trees.
Increasing the insulation of our office and factory to generate energy savings of approximately 10% per year. It also improves the storage conditions of finished products in our warehouse.
As for the waste generated during the production process, we treat it in a personalized way, each material is directed towards its treatment center.
Implementation of LED lighting throughout the installation, which means lower energy consumption and cost savings.
Automatic process times to improve consumption. Preventive maintenance of our manufacturing lines controlling the excessive consumption of engines and other elements, conditioning of buildings in terms of insulation to improve efficiency in air conditioning.
