  • OLIVE OIL MOISTURISING CREAM

If you still haven't discovered natural cosmetics, why not try the rewarding experience of making some of your own?

By using only natural ingredients, you will be doing your body a service for which it will thank you! Today we want to show you how to make a simple, healthy and effective skin moisturising cream for all the family.

The use of olive oil in natural cosmetics is becoming more and more common because of its hydrating properties and its regenerative effect on the skin. It has these qualities thanks to the anti-oxidative effect of the vitamins A, D, E and K that it contains and the way they act against free radicals. So, if you want to learn how to make your own moisturising cream with olive oil, just follow this simple recipe.

Ingredients:

  • a sheet of beeswax (7x 7cm) or 5-6 grams in nuggets.
  • 60 grams of extra virgin olive oil.

Process:

Heat some water in a small saucepan over a low heat. Place a glass container in the pan to form a bain-marie to melt the beeswax gently. Place the beeswax in the glass container – if you are using a sheet of it, fold it up first. This is a slow process because too much heat diminishes the properties of beeswax.

Once the wax has melted, add the olive oil bit by bit, stirring until it has dissolved. It is recommended to use a wooden or resistant plastic utensil for this. It may seem as though the oil is separating from the wax, since it reacts when incorporated into the wax due to the difference in temperatures. Simply stir the mixture for a few seconds until the oil forms an emulsion with the wax.

When the mixture has emulsified well, remove the glass container from the heat and put it in the fridge for one hour. When it cools, the mixture will acquire the texture of a cream.

When you remove the cream from the fridge, you can repeat the process if you want it to be thicker or more liquid. In order to do this, heat the container once more in the bain-marie and wait for the mixture to melt again. Add a little more wax if you want the cream thicker, or more olive oil if you want it to be more liquid.

Once you are satisfied, transfer the cream to a container with a lid and store it like any other cream. It will keep well for several months.
